At IFT, we understand the challenges facing our community. That's why we created CoDeveloper, to rise to these challenges and advance our mission in new ways. CoDeveloper represents IFT's evolution, an application that promotes and advances the science of food to help you improve food for everyone.
About IFT
85+ Years of Scientific Leadership
Since 1939, the Institute of Food Technologists has been the convenor of the food science community, promoting and advancing the science of food and its application, including:
- Establishing the first undergraduate education standards for food science - In 1966, IFT created the first formal education standards for food science degrees, establishing food science as a recognized academic discipline globally.
- Launching the Global Food Traceability Center - IFT led the way in accelerating the adoption of practical, global traceability solutions to effectively track food products from farm to table, improving the containment of foodborne illness outbreaks.
- Leading the development and adoption of HACCP and food safety systems - IFT has been instrumental in advancing food safety through support of HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points) implementation, contributing to safer food production worldwide and participating in international food safety standards development through Codex Alimentarius.
Through it all, we've united our community, from ingredient manufacturers and product developers to innovators and researchers across food, nutrition, and public health, through a shared vision to create a global food system that is sustainable, safe, nutritious, and accessible to all.

Our belief is simple: AI won't replace food scientists, but food scientists using AI will lead the way forward. As technology continues to change the world around us, we believe IFT has an obligation to lead our community in embracing these advances, including AI.
